beware the Ides of March...

Bit tenuous I know, but it was the quote I thought of for this photo with the RSC in the background.

We didn't have long in Stratford on Avon this afternoon, just time for a quick walk down to the river where I saw this lovely tree in full flower with the theatre in the background. We then walked further down towards the RSC and found that all the grassy areas, which would normally be full of people enjoying the lovely sunshine, have been fenced off.

Not sure what is being done there, hope it's not a permanent thing as it will really spoil that area for everyone - the council have already chopped down lots of trees there and paved over a huge area which all now looks very clinical and ordinary. Stratford is a really strange mix of extremely ugly buildings from the 60s and fantastic ancient buildings with amazing history - like this and this.
