The last walk ...

... and the last of that bloody spider ;-)

La Princesse makes her final walk towards the Mersey Tunnel and a bid for freedom. Wasn't to be, though.

Liverpool has been captivated by La Machine ever since the spider first appeared on Concourse Tower on Wednesday. Since then, the French company, Artichoke, that were responsible for her creation have kept us guessing (more or less) as to what she would do and how she would do it. From the subtle start of an unannounced appearance hanging off the wall of a soon to be demolished building to the bonkers escape attempt through the Mersey Tunnel, the event has been a blast.

I've been rained on, trod on, pushed, squeezed and generally had a hard time photographing this thing. But I was determined to capture as much of it as I could. And I've loved every minute of it. Its been a challenge, though. Yesterday, the crowds were insane. There were too many people and not enough space. Tonight was better - there were probably as many people, but there was more room and the mood was generally more laid back. It was the light that was the challenge for this one. Early on, the challenge was how to deal with pics of a creature that nobody really understood - what it was or what it was for.

Now we know. And we'll never forget it.

So, no apologies to those blippers who are sick of it. Its been a journey and I've loved it all the way :-)

Non-spider related blip will follow tomorrow.
