Tire the dog!

After yesterday's ninja sheep, this is a day for dog stories I am afraid.

Sunday we went for another one of our "random walks" - this is when we dont have time for a full proper walk, so we just drive to a village not far from us and pick a footpath at random. I have discovered some lovely paths that way.

Now that we have a dog we will be doing more of those for a while as we work the dog up to be able to do more miles hiking, so we can go back on proper hikes some more. Since I want to do Nijmegen or similar again next year I need to keep in walking fitness.

Walks are my sanity thing. I really ought to join the ramblers or some other walking group in the area. Wouldnt hurt to know people :)

So this time we went to Baildon, just outside Shipley, and tried to find a way up the moor. The paths are a were bit hard to find, although now that I have been there I can see there are loads of them and some are easy to get to once you know. This looked a nice little town still :)

This is just the edge of the Leeds/Bradford area, and on one site you can see lots of buildings, Saltaire and Bradford and Horsforth and more - and the other side is moors and countryside. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed this very much. I would have walked a lot more but we must not exhaust the dog (just tire her enough she gets a workout and gets better at it)

We could not let Pippi off the leash, being in heat and all, and good thing we didnt, cause some fluffy white dog came out of nowhere. Thankfully he was too excited by freedom to stay around Pippi long and zoomed off down the hill.

We later met the dog's owner looking for him - she certainly put in the miles in. She did find him at the bottom of the moor frolicking with 2 other dogs. Dogs can give you a full workout that's for sure.

We sure had a tired dog when we got back, and yet she was very fussy with her food. We found out later that it was because she was keeping her appetite for better things.

She wolfed the leftover shepherds pie we had left to cool on the middle of the table. We didnt quite expect her to reach that far, she must have been standing on her hind legs the whole time... A casserole dish in the middle of the table was no problem for her -we didnt quite expect her to reach that far...

Now we have no lunch (we'll manage) and I get to worry about the half onion she probably ingested with that. And of course being a dog she had no clue she'd done something silly (although since she is underweight we could see all that food in her tummy - most of her normal food + 2 servings of dinner).

She moved all right once up, but getting up seemed to be something she didnt want to do much... "you mean I have to move???? you have to be joking!"

I'll have to watch the onion thing though
