Industrial Junk at Inverbreakie

As the madness of stairlifts and woodlands subsides, I got out with Pip for,a walk round Saltburn Community Woodlands. I stumbled across these reminders of the previous occupant of the woodland. These lovely concrete stantions snaked up from Saltburn Pier to the Invergordon Smelter carrying all the raw materials to make aluminium on a conveyor belt. The "snake" wasn't the most efficient of machines and quite often broke down. I wonder how many people in the world can honestly say they have an item made from Invergordon Aluminium? Another failed attempt at using natural resources to make unnatural prodocts methinks. Which also raises a more contemporary question. What will windfarm owners do with their turbines in 25 years when they reach the end of their life? Anyone remember the original "Survivors" series? Greg would have an answer.
