View from The Alhambra, Granada, Spain

The Alhambra (so called because, in Arabic, the word means Red Castle) stands strategically on top of a hill overlooking the city of Granada. It dates from the 9th century.
It started life as a military fortress and did not become a royal residence until the 13th century with the arrival of the first king of the Nasrid dynasty, Mohammed ben Al-Hamar.

The history of the building and rebuilding is very complex and, as with so many places in Spain, it passed from many religions and faiths with annexes, rooms and towers demolished and others added.

Yet another work trip for me ...... life is sweet
