Graffiti is by its very nature temporary, criminal even. Other than pieces that gain value for some arbitrary reason (artistic quality/humour/Artist's name/zeitgeist) most graffiti is only around for a short while. In some ways this can be a good thing as it keeps the urban landsape constantly evolving and challenges writers to keep putting it out there.

Of course, all photographs are just capturing a moment in time, but with these photographs I am often taking pictures of things that are wiped away in real life. It's a process of documenting what's there before it's gone.

This process was made even clearer to me this morning. We have a street cleaning team in our area at the moment and this little tag literally vanished two minutes after I took this shot.
