Met this lovely lady on a walk along the coastal cliffs, just south of Aberdeen.

This is a Hebridean Sheep. They have black wool that in summer sunlight can fade to brown. If they are not sheared then their wool will naturally fall off. The last known native hebridean sheep survived on Uist and some were taken to England and other parts of scotland where they were displayed as ornemental animals.

In 1973 they were identified as being in need of conservation, since then the breed has been revived.
