Gingerbread Houses

Spent the day making presents of mini gingerbread houses for the cast & crew of The Gingerbread Lady.

The title of the play comes from a line spoken by Polly, daughter of my character, the recovering alcoholic Evy. Polly refers to a gingerbread house with a gingerbread lady in the window, that Evy gave her one Christmas. Polly kept it to remind her of her mother but of course she laments, "Today I have the biggest box of crumbs in the neighbourhood." By the end of the play, the audience see how true this statement is, as they watch Evy crumble as she loses her battle to stay sober.

Thankfully, my houses didn't crumble - at least not before I handed them out! You can see the final decorated versions here.

Big thanks to Megan over at the blog Not Martha for the inspiration and template ;-)
