Kerr Cup

A return to the scenes of my childhood.

The walk along this stretch of the Grand Union Canal between Hanwell and Brentford was one of my regular strolls over many years.

This somewhat bizarre plaque, just south of the Trumpers Way bridge, always captured my imagination, partly I suppose because it recalls an event that took place in the year of my birth (1959).

The piling along the canal bank at this point is still an impressive sight, more than 53 years later.
