Anemone blanda

The day of the first part of the TB test. T up early in preparation with two to help, P and O. The vet and her assistant arrived and during the day all the livestock passed through the cattlecrush to be injected. At the same time some of the animals with missing eartags were re-tagged and looked over generally. All went well and they were finished by about 3.30 pm. Three days must now pass before each is checked for the results. A very stressful time.

In the middle of all this a lorry arrived from Bristol with the new grass seed we had ordered. The driver was friendly and interested and asked T what was happening on the farm today. T replied "The TB test" and the driver said what a difficult time, did T think it was the badgers. T didn't press his opinion but asked what the driver thought. He said he was from a city and didn't understand but if he and other cityfolk were put on a farm for a period of time they would understand more about farming and the country. I thought this a very thoughtful and refreshing answer.

The a. blanda are the first of the anemones to flower, I just love their colour.
