First cut of the year . . .

Was working in the craft shop in the morning, and yes, quite a few tourists about, coming in and buying things too. Part of the reason was probably because it was so cold outside! You could easily have believed it was going to snow, such a heavy, cold air.

By lunchtime the sun was doing its best to shine and there was enough of a breeze to nicely dry the washing. Also dry enough to cut the front lawn, the first time this year. Pottered about in the greenhouse for a while and pretended it really was spring!

Lovely to see leaves coming on the grapevine. It was so dry and dead looking that I was a bit worried about it. I have studied all the books and read the relevant chapters about viticulture, but it is still going to be a bit of trial and error. Because we got it from an old chap who died, I am even more determined than ever not to let the damn thing die too!

Last year quite a few of the daffodils were "blind", had lots of leaves but no flowers, this spring they are making up for their year off!
