Ben Lomond to get funicular railway

Ben Lomond will have a funicular railway installed and a Starbucks cafe built at the summit in an exciting new proposal to boost tourism in Scotland and make the Scottish scenery more accessible to disadvantaged groups, especially the elderly.

In a surprise announcement Alex Salmond, First Minister, said he had great hopes for this new venture by Visit Scotland and he congratulated them on coming up with such an innovative scheme.

Environment groups are less sure especially the proposal to shave the top off the mountain to make space for the cafe and to sell the plots of earth off to Americans who want to purchase a bit of their Scottish heritage.

Salmond dismissed such "wishy-washy" conservative thinking and stressed that in our new technology driven age we have to do some blue-sky thinking and "think outside the box".

Furthermore in celebration of Robert the Bruce 700th anniversary in 2014 the statute currently residing outside Stirling Castle will be moved to the top of Ben lomond.
