To the Lighthouse

A stroll this morning around the lighthouse at Tarbat Ness. Cloudier and colder than it's been for a while.

You can look out onto the North Sea from Tarbat Ness and get a pretty clear sense of the shape of this part of the British Isles. Which must be unusual for a ground level view. But you can see the Dornoch Firth, the Cromarty Firth, the Moray Firth and all the land from Fraserburgh all the way to Golspie and beyond.

Also, there was a battle here long ago, between Thorfinn the Mighty and Karl Hundason, which sounds too much like something out of a children's book by Cressida Cowell to be believable as a piece of historical fact.
