All the fun of the fair

The only ride I ever liked on the funfair was the dodgems. Being in control I guess. I loved them but always thought they were too slow. So I used to carefully thread my way through all the mayhem gradually building up speed then pick a victim and hit them side-on at full tilt.
Many years later, at this very funfair, I had my usual go on the dodgems, but they were faster, much faster. It was terrifying and someone t-boned me at full tilt. It hurt like a SoB and i've not been on them since.
