The Phoenix Rises

In the spirit of Pedal for Scotland.

Today we were up at 06.00,(well almost), and off to Glasgow.

Ali and R were taking part in "Pedal for Scotland". A cycle of 53 miles to Edinburgh from Glasgow Green in aid of Leukaemia research. I was the support driver.

It was sunny, yes "sunny" and the crowds turned out in their thousands, but not to watch, to participate. Over 5,000 turned the pedal power to good use and enjoyed the day.

People such as Nicola Sturgeon, (Scottish Health secretary), attempted some of it. The world record holder for the fastest circum-navigation of the world by bike, Mark Beaument, was seen by Ali as he swept past. A couple of women cycling beside him remarked, that was him and suggested they try and catch him up. When Ali suggested that what they didn't realise was that they had just been lapped, they didn't seem too happy.

I took loads of photos, but this one captured the day for me. I don't know who they are, but they were out there together having fun.
