Lots of activity but no action

We have a pair of bluetits who are investigating one of the two nestboxes that have cameras in. They have cleaned it out (obviously not happy with our cleaning of it!) and nip in and out a lot but haven't yet started with nesting material. In the past one or other of the birds would roost overnight in their chosen abode but this hasn't been happening and I'm beginning to wonder if they have a second residence...
The other box has seen no action at all this year despite having had nests and babies for the past 2 years. Nevermind - it's still early days yet.
STOP PRESS
The pair of mallards are coming to the pond each night to roost but are doing a very effective job of hoovering up my toad spawn!!!!!!!! Had to rescue the last of it and place it in a glass jar in the pond. I suspect the ducks may not come tonight because Pixel took an interest in them last night. After initially bottling out of the silent, low stalk act (ducks too big? too noisy?) he did another approach later (he realised we'd seen him running away the first time?) and they flew off.
STOP STOP PRESS - I was wrong. the ducks are here again this evening.
Today's news....
Odd jobs. Simon has been on the roof sealing the 8 skylights so the sparrows can't get under the tiles. He has also installed a large water butt that will feed the pond with rain water. Helen and I have been weeding the 'meadow', splitting primroses and generally being Simon's glamorous assistants (holding the ladder etc!).
Lasagne and garlic bread tonight - yummy!
Happy Easter everybody.
Love Jill
