A Piece of Cake

Easter Sunday. We also had the Christening of Lois Joan. Joni and I were her Godparents, and very proud ones too.

Here is a true story, Lois' mother was having stomach pains, she was six months pregnant with Lois and entered hospital in severe pain, the hospital staff were less than helpful or accommodating so she came home with her husband. This happened a few times over the next 24 - 48 hours and eventually they found that she was in labour 3 months early and little Lois was to be removed prematurely. A very trying time this would have been for the mother, the father, the entire family, but especially for this little person Lois. A surviver, a smiler, a miracle, and a very blessed little girl.

At this time, Joni and I were in Kos, Greece and could not be around to be as much support as we would have loved to have been. I remember hearing the news on the balcony of our apartment after dinner. Joni was still pregnant with Amélie at the time. It was a very sad moment.

With all this said, I am delighted to be chosen as her Godfather, and in all honesty, knowing all that came before the christening, this piece of cake was the sweetest and most enjoyable thing I have ever tasted.
