Two new handles too much

N and I drove down to Devon again for the night but this time to very old friends who live near Collumpton.

In the afternoon we took a walk through the parkland and round the garden of Killerton House, once owned by the Acland family, one of the ancient families of Devon, whose estate was acquired by the National Trust and is one of their largest parcels of land including its many farms. The sprawling house, although Georgian, is not very beautiful and is now painted an almost pale salmon pink, not the nicest of colours!

While walking through the gardens we came across this Grecian-style urn. There was something I didn't like about it - the handles! Why the urn couldn't have been left without its original handles beats me!

An enjoyable evening was spent eating and catching up on their travel news, L and J having just returned from Australasia where L once lived and worked.
