Pottery

Pottery is an ancient industry in Bahrain for which the village of A'Ali is renowned. A potter will work a wheel in a pit with his feet while he rapidly flings lumps of clay on the spinning wheel. With his fingers, he works the shapeless mud into useful utensils which is painted in traditional styles. Pottery vessels have been made in Bahrain for thousands of years, fired in ancient mud-brick kilns, which means they're as authentic a souvenir as you could get. This is Mohmen, he has been making pots for more than 10 years. I was amazed to see how quick he managed to get the shape, making it looks so effortless!
