Tibetan Lady in Shangri-La

Shangri-La is a town of 60,000 people. It is situated on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau in Yunnan Province, at an altitude of 3,300 metres (11,000ft).

This morning this Tibetan lady invited us into her house for bread and yogurt made from yak milk.

There are 16 ethnic minorities live here, but 60% are Tibetan. The Tibetans live widely across The Tibetan Plateau which contains several Chinese provinces as well as Tibet itself.

The Red Army came through Shangri-La in 1936, on the Long March.

Thanks for the 100th blip celebrations. I was surprised and delighted! I will respond to your comments when I am home again.
