The old sheep of the Lake District

Rumpole of the Bailey always referred to W. Wordsworth thus. Here he lies surrounded by family in Grasmere Churchyard. Dreaming perhaps of daffodils. A thousand years since (well at least 35) I researched and wrote an article for Scottish Field on another resident of this graveyard. Sir John Richardson, a famed Arctic explorer died near here. My original interest was that he was born in Dumfries - his father, Gabriel, was Provost there and a friend of Burns. Burns wrote an epitaph for Gabriel - as he was wont!

65 today. HM may have to get out and do a bit more shelf stacking so she can send me what she owes! Long may she reign!
