Lismore

I was on the Island of Lismore today, visiting constituents and holding an advice surgery.

The weather was wonderful - bright, but with a cold northerly breeze - just as it was the first time I was here in October 2010, when I was still the candidate, not the MSP. Today however there was a new covering of snow on the mountains to the East and North, proving that winter is far form over.

This picture is looking South West , towards the hills of Ardnamurchan, across the fertile fields of an island whose Gaelic name means "The Big Garden". There is also still some local Gaelic spoken on a daily basis on the island , as I discovered at my surgery which was held in the excellent Heritage Centre which also has a fine small cafe .
