Southampton Remembers. . . .

. . . . those who perished on the Titanic 100 years ago.

There are many Titanic memorials around Southampton and this one was dedicated to the engineering staff, which was unveiled on April 22nd 1914, in front of a crowd of nearly 100,000 people, a real indication of the loss felt by the city.
Of the crew, 724 lived within the Southampton area - only 175 returned home to their friends and families.
