Guess who's Goliath?

This evening I went to the nearby Eemshaven to capture the beautiful windmill Goliath. Nowadays Goliath is in fact the smallest windmill in that area, but it has been there for more than 110 years already. An accomplishment his bigger brothers have yet to achieve.

I leave you with a poem, written by Teun Juk, in the Groningen-dialect, about this windmill:

~~ The Goliath - a monument of water and wind ~~

" Doar stoef dicht bie't wad,
stait woatermeultje De Goliath

Zien kop vol wieken zain ie aal achter diek,
110 joar old, en nog aal gain reumatiek

Sinds restauroatie weer goud gezond,
Draait e mit wieken pal over grond.

Zien kammeroaden binnen groot en wit,
Alle doagen draait hai mit heur mit.

Veur heur is de meuln hoast een kind,
Veur mie een monument van wotter en wind"
