Daily Life in the Bogs

The mythology of my name

The story, as told to me by my parents, is that I was born with red hair, nearly the same shade of red as seen on a robin. Although the priest declared it a pagan name, my father was insistent so I became a Robin (with a middle name borrowed from a saint to appease the church) during the days when it was still considered a boy's name, and so a trend that continues today was born. Girls are still being given boy's names, usurping them in a way, as it seems like all the human Robins I meet now are female. As are all the Sydneys, Madisons, Taylors, Morgans, Jordans, Ryans, etc.
