Granny's 85th

Up early as the day was so nice, and revised in the sun until taking the bike out to meet up with the family for Granny's 85th birthday.

In line with family tradition, every birthday must be marked by a birthday walk. We set off from Westwood, through the fields of oil seed rape to Iford manor, then round to Farleigh Hungerford, where me and Jesse sieged the castle and were promptly told off by the English Heritage attendants.

Round to the tea rooms, for tea and scones with clotted cream and jam. Grandpa likes to see how many slices he can get out of a single scone to maximise the cream:scone ratio; he managed 6, piled high with cream, eating them before Granny could get a word in about his blood pressure.

Back home to stew and a great Hungarian film called Kontroll which threaded itself into my dreams, which wasn't particularly pleasant.
