River of Flowers

Globe Artichoke

These are last Summer's globe artichoke flowers.

When they were in flower they attracted all sorts of butterflies and insects, passers by would stop and talk about them. Maybe I'll blip the new flowers in a few months time!

During early Spring the sparrows were pulling the seeds out and using the dead heads as nest building material.

I thought they looked impressive against the very grey sky - they are about 8 feet tall.

I'm going to cut them down if we get dry weather over the next few days.
