Ready for the Summer

A beautiful day, so spent most of it outside, including lunch when Postie stopped for a breather. Mid morning the ferry that goes between John o' Groats and Orkney appeared in the bay. It only runs over the summer, from May to September, in the "better weather"! Over the winter its pontoon is moored in the bay for shelter, so they were coming to tow it to its summer mooring.

The chap in the photo is a neighbour, bringing me some pampas grass seedlings that he'd found in his garden. I'm planting up a bit of rough ground at the top of the shore, and pampas grass is so tough and hardy that it stands up to the salt spray and gales very well.

A long and very difficult choir rehearsal this evening. Tippett's A Child of our Time is based in part on Kristallnacht and it is a harrowing sing. Home exhausted, but hey, a big day tomorrow!
