Herrington Park

Herrington Park stand on the site of a slag heap. It has been landscaped and planted and is now a very nice walk with sculptures and wildlife.
In the the background is a small hill that has view points on the top. Circles of metal are set in in large stones so that when you look through and they are lined up you can see Durham cathedral (here) in one direction and Penshaw Monument in another to see it click here. Each stone shows a local landmark or village. It is really worth the walk to look through.
I have blipped this before, to see look here.
It was a pleasant but bracing walk with my OH and daughter before she returns to Scotland to uni.
