A Snapshot a Day

"While My Pink Cello Case Gently Weeps"

Many years ago when Kate was a middle-schooler, and we bought her a really good full-sized cello, the sales lady asked her what sort of case she would like. Kate said "A pink one". We laughed. The sales lady didn't, she just said "Oh we'll have to order it in that case".

I don't know why we bothered putting the "Jackson" label on, as over the years the pink case has become synonymous with Kate.

As you can see from the current state of it, it's been well travelled. Lots of concerts with WKMS, UHS, FRYO and ASCYO, auditions and adjudications, several trips to New York and a trip to Tennessee. It has just come back from it's latest adventure, 5 days in the UHS Band trailer with an assortment of other instruments and uniforms, being driven to Orlando and back.

Today, after getting home from Disney just before 2am thanks to a delayed flight, and taking Ms C up on the offer of excusing any child who was too tired to come into school today, Kate went after school to pick up the cello.

After years of toting around the pink cello case, we loaded it into the car for it's final journey home. Kate is off to college. The cello is staying home.

The pink cello case may be weeping, but judging by the picture, Kate certainly isn't!
