Tamokdalen, day 3

For the day three the weather forecast still showed bluebird, so we decided to make a bit bigger tour to the blueberryhill (Blåbärfjellet 1450m over the sea). We started early as we know that the best route up was the south face through one potential avalanche area that time to time comes down, and didn't want to be there at noon.

Everything went well and after 5 hours of skinning and climbing we were at the top. What a beautiful view! Our plan was to ski the north face bowls that ended to few couloirs for the exit to the treeline. We started the upper bowl and the snow was as good as we hoped for. After small traverse skied down the lower bowl and..

..after finding a safe spot we noticed that one of the safe couloirs had blue icefall and other one had already fresh avalanche and virtually no snow. The third and the last one had quite unstable snowpack, so we decided to climb back up instead of trying to get down from the risky place.

After few more hours we were at the ridge and took our time as wanted the sun go more down and let the almost southside face cool down a bit before skiing down. While going down the snowpack felt ok but there were already few wet slides that had triggered by themselves at the hot sunlight. At the evening the dinner tasted better than ever and took also a looong sauna with few beers. Last real ski day for the season was done.
