what the Dickens

Took a day off yesterday and we all went to see the Dickens exhibition at the London Museum.

Up until about eighteen months ago I always thought this was far and away the best museum in London, with something fascinating round every corner. Since the major redevelopment they carried out I personally think they've lost the plot, and I haven't enjoyed my last couple of visits.

You no longer have the sense of the passage of time as London developed and changed, everything seems muddled and confused - designed by committee maybe?

The Dickens exhibition seemed like a way of making money to be honest. Some fascinating paintings of London and Londoners and about three quarters of the way through the exhibition three slideshows of fascinating (but frustratingly blurry) photographs of London in the 1900's

Don't get me wrong, we all had a great day and in spite of feeling the exhibition could have told you a whole lot more about Dickens we all found things we really enjoyed looking at
