Tentsmuir

Mrs P and I went walking at Tentsmuir. It is a long beach and forested area at the north-eastern tip of Fife, next to the Tay estuary. The name is said to come from Dutch sailors shipwrecked in the 1780s who set up tents here. (I'm not convinced - the details seem a bit vague for a major historical event.)

The sand has shifted over the years, with erosion in some places and new land in others. Here, the trees have not survived.
