Dawn's Journal

Eynsford

After a busy day on Saturday clearing my Mum's rockery and pond, and uncertain weather today, we took a trip to a local garden centre for a leisurely cup of coffee and visit to the aquatics area for plants to restock the pond. The coffee was great, but the plants not so good (and expensive), so we moved onto the next water garden centre - which was even worst.

By now it was nearing lunchtime, so on to a third garden centre with a decent restuarant, and had a good lunch watching a pair of robins scavaging for crumbs while dodging hailstones. The aquatic area here was much better stocked and having made some purchases, we left happy.

By now the sun had come out again, and as I did not fancy driving down any of the numerous motorways and major roads in this area of North Kent, I pointed the car in the general direction of home and drove along minor roads through interesting scenery and pretty villages, eventually finding ourselves here in Eynsford.

This is the classic view of the ford across the River Darent, with the single-track humpedback bridge and view of the church spire. I recollect Sunday trips out here with my grandparents (long before the aforementioned motorways existed), paddling in the river and fishing for tiddlers. An ice cream probably completed the day.
