Birch woodland, Peter Fidler reserve

The trees are gradually becoming clothed in green, the marshy area in the foreground is still looking brown and wintry. Birch trees in woodland always look so slender and graceful. These trees are actually masking a former colliery slag heap, showing what can be achieved in the way of environmental restoration.
