Chaffinch

"Oh, to be in England
Now that April's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England - now!!"

from 'Home Thoughts, From Abroad' by Robert Browning

This one was neither singing or on an orchard bough, but I regularly see him beneath the feeders, cleaning up after the messy blue tits and greenfinches who seem to spit seeds and husks everywhere. Today was no exception, despite the torrential rain!
