Mallard Drake

As we were walking the Pugs this morning I noticed a Mallard Drake seemingly talking to himself in the corner by my neighbor's garage.

I thought the sun on his iridescent feathers along with his orange undercarriage looked nice in contrast to the white flowers and house.

Wondering what he was up to, I approached to shoot the photo thinking he was guarding a broody hen.

Turned out there was another drake hiding out in the flower bed.

I excused myself, as best I could, for blundering in where I had no business and left hastily.
