Pursued by a male - American wood ducks.

Where was I? North America? No, Washington Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Tyne and Wear, UK.

These spectacular little ducks were swimming about- it is what ducks do best, among a lot of other ducks, geese, flamingoes, and otters. The staff there were very excited about 4 pairs of avocets that were breeding on an island on the lake there. We saw 4 little avocet chicks that were only a day or two old. They were like tiny balls of fluff, very well camouflaged. The woodland area was full of bullfinches and loads of other birds. I was well impressed and plan to go again soon.

A photographer's paradise if the weather had been a bit better, even so there were foot long lenses on show- I confess to lens envy.
