kisses evolved from sniffing each other's musk glands near the eyes (sniff and kiss meant the same thing for millenia)

psychologically the kiss evolved from the sucking motion of feeding babies.

elephants can shove trunks into each other's mouths

tropian islanders groom each other, removing twigs and leaves, then bite lips till they draw blood and pull out hair, then finally they nibble off each others eyelashes. Small eyelashes in the south pacific can be a sign of a much desired person
