Mansefield Memories

Kyle of Lochalsh

I left the car in Elgin and with family we travelled by train to Inverness to catch the little train to Kyle. It took two and a half hours to cross over to the west coast. A very beautiful journey in some of the wildest countryside through the mountains and along the shores of lochs and sea.
Two nights in this very comfortable hotel with views from my corner window of the bridge and the jetty. Many small ships use this strait to shelter between the mainland of Kyle and The Island of Skye.
There are ferries that will still take you ' Over the sea to Skye' in the summer from further down the coast. The bridge must be an asset to the islanders. It is really a high steep curve to drive over. The views from it are marvellous.
