Grey Day

US Aircraft Carrier Carl Vinson lies off Fremantle. A strange grey overcast day with the margin between sea and sky hardly discernable. Not a breath of wind with small and lazy long swells arriving on North Cottesloe beach, curling into a lustrous green. (caught in another non Blipped image).

The grey hull of ship appeared moored in concrete and yet the bunting from stem to stern was quite bright and colourful even when shot from about 8 kilometres away. Carl Vinson was the vessel that despatched Osama Bin Laden's body to the sea in May 2011.
