Female Wood Duck with Ducklings

I've counted several times in all of my photos and the grand number of babies is 23. I've never seen so many babies with one mama duck. I know they won't all survive due to predators, mean people, and birds of prey. Most are the normal color but a few are of a lighter color. I'll keep track of these little ones.

I got some sad news yesterday....only one of the Sand Hill Crane chicks remain. It's not known what happened but we all feel sad after watching them grow. I'll be back out at the pond Sunday so I'm hoping to photograph the chick that's left and the adults as well.
