Trainspotting

Caught wind that this was passing late on today, so jumped on the bikes and headed down to catch it passing through from Alloa to Stirling. The engine - Royal Scot Class No 46115 Scots Guardsman - is the same one that 'starred' in the 1936 documentary film Night Mail, so it's a bit of a celebrity in itself.

It wasn't carrying any post today though, but the long line of carriages behind it were full of passengers, including another blipper's mum and dad it seems (I waved at them Andy, not sure if they saw me though).

Quite a spectacle to see and certainly a much more appealing spectacle than the usual diesels that pass over the bridge here. Even Euan was impressed with it, especially when the engineer waved at us and blew the train's whistle as they trundled over the River Devon.

I'd say go large on this, but it was a really tricky shot to catch; trying to keep the shutter fast enough, but let enough light in to get some detail, without blowing out the white steam clouds. Not as sharp as it could've been and the colour version looked awful, mono saved the day.
