Get Back to Me

Wet Brown Hare

It's difficult being a wildlife photographer when the only time I get out with my camsera is with the dog.

This afternoon, with a strong wind and driving rain, we were downwind and we caught this brown hare unawares. With its back to the wind, in the lee of some tall grass, it was snoozing.

I have to say I would not relish being a hare. It's a lonely life, only coming together to mate, then off on solitary again. A diet of mostly grass and winter wheat, and just a scrape in the soil - known as a form - to give a bit of shelter.

Trust me, how ever often you see a hare, they are always bigger than you expect.
