The Travellers Return

Cartography ink runs through his veins - his father's and grandmother's too.

As soon as he'd returned, L was taking us through the intricacies of their journey to and from the Mornington Peninsula, supplemented by the brochures picked up from "i"s along the way. And then it was onto Google Maps, to show Grandma (thrilled by the discovery) that you could retrace every step in street view.

Reminds me of the time he couldn't come to dinner because he was halfway between Perth and Melbourne.

Does it surprise anyone to learn his favourite reader in kindergarten was the Canberra street directory (we moved halfway through the year).

The overlay is the Atlas of World Exploration, on loan (somewhat nervously) from that kindred cartographic spirit.

Wonderful to have everyone back, and to share a gorgeous Autumn weekend with Sue and John.
