Waterfoot Sunrise

Duck!

Another lovely day with lots of sunshine and a cool northerly wind. Warm enough to sit outside in the shelter of the south facing side of the house and read the Sunday papers. I always find it one of those really special parts of the week when, after the early morning run and shower, you have time to sit down and catch up with all the news. There is always the mandatory cup of tea and some toast to make the occasion just perfect.

As for today's blip? Well, as the morning light was wonderful I was attempting to get those two Goldfinches together on the feeder, I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. However, they weren't playing ball and were quite happy to sit on the ground feeding on the niger seeds that the Siskins dropped from the feeder. Then a Pheasant walked by a few times and was duly blipped. The colours were brilliant, but the background was the rabbit proof fencing, which made it look as if it was caged. As the Pheasant flew away a Collar Dove came and sat on a fence pole. Haven't blipped one of them before, so this was my chance. Took one blip and was just lining up for the second when its mate appeared with I guess romantic notions in mind. That was until it saw me and changed course at the very last minute!

The one on the pole looks as if its ducking to avoid its low flying mate!
