Mayor of Berwick upon Tweed

No idea where she was going but she had an escort in front and behind and a massive traffic jam thereafter....but no other gentry or horses to be seen. Perhaps she gets all that protection if she just wants to go out for a wee jolly!!?

Got me wondering about the Berwick coat of arms, which is on her sash...

The mural crown is symbolic of municipal government out of which emerges a salmon which represents the fishing industry of the area. The stag supporting the torch, is a symbol of St. Aidan who founded the Monastery at Lindisfarne. The stag rests a hoof on a gold garb representing the important agricultural activities of the area. The horse supporting a hoe represents the agriculture of the area. The cog wheel is in refers to the light industries of the area. Quite interesting!

I was in Berwick to buy paint and some food for the week. That's both rooms stripped of paper and now both have the paintwork repainted! The papering happens next weekend with some help!

Had coffee and a scone with my pilates pal to finish off my weekend activities. Off for a wee bit of cross stitch and TV as a sit down reward! A very industrious and rewarding weekend!
