Untidy nest

Mrs Coot at the Archives has built her nest on top of the straw cages (or rather, has got Mr Coot to do it). There's bits of old plastic bag and sweet wrappers incorporated into the structure, and the latest addition is lots of long randomly placed straws.

The cages are there to be filled with straw apparently to help keep the water clear of algae. No idea if it works, or how, but certainly the water is crystal clear at the moment.
