a little bit of rhubarb

Hoffnung & Co.

A belated blurb for this blip (nothing like a bit of alliteration in the morning).

Hoffnung & Co's was built in 1938 as the last warehouse erected in the traditional warehousing quarter of the Sydney CBD (Clarence, York and Kent Streets). It's also an important building for its early modernist design, particularly its central Art Deco piered breakfront and cement rendered fin-like termination motifs in Moderne style.

Since the mid-1970s the building has been occupied by the Red Cross.

Tiring day - long day at work, followed by pre-, pre-birthday drinks at a trendy small bar. While waiting for the train home, I took some cheesy tourist night photos down at Circular Quay of Sydney Harbour Bridge. By the time I got home (late) I had decided they were dreadful and ditched that plan, but was too tired and it was way too late in the evening to do anything else. Which is how I ended up with Red Cross House (photographed at lunchtime whilst getting a sandwich). A token effort at processing whilst in bed waiting for the Sandman to come and club me into oblivion.
