My Year

Another £65 Down The Tubes

Went out in my wife's car this afternoon.

"Oh", she said, "the fuel light is on"

So off I went to the filling station and poured another £65 down it's neck.

I can remember the day when I could put 4 gallons into the tank for £1.00.

According to the AA in 1965 petrol cost the equivalent of 26p per gallon.

At that rate today's fill up would have cost just about £2.60. So, it's gone up 26 times in 47 years. How's that for inflation.
